🖥️ Windows 11 - Print Screen Button
I just wanted to write up a quick sort-of vent post, sort-of instructions if I ever need this later in the future.
Windows 11, out of the box, changes the Print Screen button to use the snipping tool. I never really adopted the snipping tool in previous versions and just use print screen and paste directly into MS Paint. I'm not against using the tool now, but what pisses me off is that OneDrive is also enabled by default. And the snipping tool's default location is in the OneDrive folder. This seems like such a security oversight it makes me genuinely mad.
Task 1: Seperate Snipping Tool from Print Screen button
This is done in Windows' settings, under the Accessibility menu.
Task 2: Change default storage location
If you want to use the snipping tool, you can change the location where it saves screenshots and videos to somewhere that isn't OneDrive. This is done in the Snipping Tool app. All the settings here are worth review, but the ones I want in particular are the "Change" links next to the save paths.
Next step is to unlink OneDrive... I thought I'd turned it off but I'm still seeing things getting the checkmark saying they're synced, which enrages me to no end.
